Thursday, March 24, 1999 NEXT SQL SERVER SIG MEETING ************************************************************ The next SQL Server SIG meeting will be held on Thursday, April 1, 1999 at 6:00 PM. This meeting will be hosted at the offices of Solutech, Inc. located in the Lighton Plaza at 7300 College BLVD, Suite 165, Overland Park, KS. See http://home.gvi.net/~spyder/img/solutech_map.gif for a map. Solutech's offices are on the first floor, and parking in the building lot is FREE. The topic will be "Creating SQL Server Stored Procedures". The first part of the presentation will be introductory and geared for those who have little or no experience writing stored procedures. The second part of the presentation will be an open forum to discuss stored procedures. Please feel free to bring samples of your own stored procedure creations to share and discuss with the group. Please feel free to print out and distribute the flyer for this meeting; the flyer is located at http://home.gvi.net/~spyder/sqlflyer.html . SEEKING SQL SERVER AUTHORS ************************************************************ Have you ever dreamed about writing a book? Or read a book and said, "I could do that"? If so, now is your chance. Certification Insider Press (an imprint of The Coriolis Group) is looking for qualified SQL Server administrators and designers who may have the skills to author or review books in this area. Qualified individuals should be SQL Server certified, in the process of acquiring their MSDBA certification, have strong writing skills, and the ability to develop a well-organized book manuscript. Also, a teaching or instructing background is helpful as the books they are looking to publish focus on the certification arena. To find out more, contact Jeff Kellum, acquisitions editor, at mailto:jeff.kellum@coriolis.com . SQL ON MULTIPLE RDBMS PLATFORMS ************************************************************ Rob Kraft, leader of the Heartland Users Groups' Visual Basic SIG has been developing an application this last year that runs on multiple RDBMS platforms (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Access). Rob ran into a number of interesting things during the course of the project. Check out Rob's findings at the following web location: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/robkraft/professnl/sqldb.doc .
